My Idea for Old Alphie Cards

A few years ago we bought our daughter an Alphie because it was on sale and she loved robots. We did not expect her to use it for learning right away because she was only about 2 when she received it. From then until recently Alphie has been abused. He has been dropped, slobbered on, and thrown. His speech became garbled and eventually he could no longer talk. Unfortunately, even after multiple trips to the "hospital" he didn't make it. Me, being the great deal shopper that I am had already picked up 3 sets of cards to go with Alphie. After his demise I began to think about how I could use those cards that I already purchased. Here is what I came up with.

I decided to take some of the cards and cut them up. Now we can use these Alphie cards for our own little learning games. These Alphie Booster pack include all sorts of fun things to do. There are matching cards, numbers, letter sounds, colors, rhyming words, and even musical instruments.

School Supplies!!!!

YAY!!! I LOVE this time of year. Maybe it is my desire to be a teacher or my love for couponing but I love shopping for school supplies. This year the sales have already begun! I was able to snag an 8 pack of pretty colored pens for only $.25!! I will try to keep you up to date on some of the really awesome sales but if I can't keep up (which is likely to happen), I wanted to talk about my FAVORITE couponing and deal site, Hip2Save.com! I have been following this site for several years and I am SO thankful to have found it. Collin over at Hip2Save recently posted a school supply shopping guide. This guide includes the price points for all the school supplies you could ever need.

Have you started school supply shopping yet? What great deals do you hope to score?

Mailbox Monday 2/17/2013

Wahoo! This was an awesome freebie week. Well I guess any week where I get something FREE is awesome! Right? My apologies for the crappy pictures not sure what is going on with that. Anyway here is what I got this week. My Moo.com business cards and I must tell you these are VERY nice. I have previously received cards from Vista Print and these are way better. The ones at Vista Print seem like they are printed on a thinner card stock. These from Moo.com are thick and look very nice.

I also got ANOTHER BzzKit from BzzAgent! This one is for the new NESCAFE Memento coffee. I LOVE coffee and this seems delicious. Can't wait to try and trust me I am sure I will be back to tell you all about it!

Zoey received her FREE circus ticket from Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey. I was supper excited about this because she LOVES the circus. We are actually going on Thursday! I have already purchased our tickets so this arrived a little too late. BUT the great thing about the FREE circus ticket is that it can be used at any time! There is no expiration date. You just have to make sure you request before your child turns 12 months. It is a part of their Baby's First Circus Program. How cool is that?

A local gas station sent me some coupons for FREE items. They included a FREE carwash, fountain drink, coffee, and hot dog!

Toddler's Drinking Habits

I wasn't sure if I should post this. I wasn't sure if anyone else had a similar issue, nor was I sure that my silly resolution would work for anyone else.

Here was the issue. Anytime I would drink anything (not alcohol) my daughter would want to drink some as well. I don't really allow her to have all of the bad things I drink (coffee, soda, sweet tea...) unless there is nothing else around. Problem was once she started drinking something, she wouldn't stop. I would have to pull the straw out of her mouth, which got messy sometimes.

Since this kid is obsessed with numbers (how awesome!) I thought I would incorporate that. Now, when she is in need of that quick sip in between a meal, I will let her have a drink and I will count out loud until i reach 3 or 4 or 5 depending on what number we agreed upon. She knows once we get to that number it is time for her to stop. This has made things so much better. No more mess or fussing because she cannot have anymore of a certain drink.

Do you have anything similar that works for you?

Thomas the Train and Woot.com Sale

If you have a Thomas the Train fan in your house you will want to check out the sale going on over at Woot.com. Right now they have these 2 piece train sets for only $9.99 + $5 shipping. If you order at least 2 it is definitely worth the price and for most of them just buying one is better than any online price I could find. We all know how expensive Thomas the Trains stuff is. Lucky for me, I picked up a few items from the Target toy clearance that should get me through until Christmas.

Have you found any other good Thomas the Train deals recently?

Chuck E. Cheese's Double Tickets

We are planning on taking our daughter to Chuck E. Cheese's on her birthday in March. This will be her first time! Of course when I decided that this was what we were going to do I imediately signed up for their email list. Signing up for a company email list is the best way to ensure that you are in the know. They have sent me some pretty good coupons so far and I keep an eye on the ones that are often in my paper. Tonight they sent me an email with offer to earn double tickets just for playing their online games! I went right over to check it out and I have to say the games were pretty easy but fun. They are probably not made for adults. lol The easiest one is the Chuck E. Rocks game I got 99% both times I played which awarded me 50 tickets! As long as I bring in the certificate before March 31st I can redeem it for 100 tickets!!! There are 3 other games to play a Skee-ball, Ticket Blaster, and Chuck E. Blocks.

I had 2 of my childhood birthdays there, the first when I was 10 and the second when I was 16! I had a blast both times and I hope Zoey enjoys it too! Did you ever celebrate at Chuck E. Cheese's?
